
Kirin Group is gearing up research and development efforts targeting factors of aging, including cellular senescence and chronic inflammation.
It has identified Agrimonia pilosa—a perennial plant of the rose family that grows wild in mountainous and wooded areas and is used as a folk remedy—as a candidate for targeting cellular senescence.
The company stated that it first discovered the plant’s ability to remove senescent cells in 2020 and that it was selected from approximately 4,000 materials as an ingredient to support brain function.

Nestlé has expanded its Materna Expert supplement range to include pregnancy and post-birth products, and will be introducing these products in China first.
The two new products, marketed as Materna Expert Healthy Pregnancy and Materna Expert Post-Birth Recovery, are additions to the existing Materna Expert product known as Materna Expert Preconception Support launched last year.
China was chosen for the products’ Asia debut due to its market size for pregnancy-related products, Nestlé said. It is the second-largest country in terms of annual pregnancies, after India.

China dairy giant Yili is going beyond general milk products and infant nutrition needs by diving into healthy aging needs against the backdrop of a greying population and increased consumer interest in metabolic health.
Last May, for example, the company partnered with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) company Beijing Tongrentang to launch products for bone health, metabolic health, and general wellness.
Healthy aging is one of Yili’s key portfolios, and it aims to harness the benefits of milk to meet these needs.

Bayer-owned supplement brand Redoxon is moving beyond immunity as consumer demand for proactive wellness, including mental performance, mood and energy, rises in Asia.
According to Dr Vipin Babu, Global Medical Affairs Senior Manager at Bayer, the Asia-Pacific (APAC) dietary supplement market has grown strongly in recent years, led by vitamins and boosted by rising interest in preventive healthcare and immunity since the pandemic.
“Reports show rising demand for personalized, targeted supplements by age, lifestyle and health goals, along with greater interest in natural, plant-based and sustainably sourced products,” he said.
